The district in plain terms
Ferdinand Bolstraat runs down the spine of it, with the Albert Cuyp market crossing at right angles and trading until late afternoon. The one predictable obstruction is the market: until roughly five in the afternoon, the Albert Cuypstraat itself is closed to cars and the streets feeding it are congested.

De Pijp is one of the few Amsterdam districts you can reach from the airport without passing through the centre at all. From Schiphol, ride the train to Amsterdam Zuid, eight minutes or so, then metro 52 north for two stops to the De Pijp station under the Ferdinand Bolstraat. Door to door, most guests manage it in thirty to forty minutes, luggage included. A taxi is about the same, and quicker late at night when the ring road is empty.

The Heineken Experience occupies the old brewery on the Stadhouderskade and is open into the evening. South of the market, the Gerard Douplein packs a ring of terraces into one small square that stays lively well after dark, and the Amstel quays to the east are the calmest walk in the area.
Practical points: parking in De Pijp is scarce and expensive, so a car is rarely the easy option, and much of the district is one way for traffic. If you are planning dinner, reserve for the earlier sitting. The better kitchens here seat twice a night and the second sitting runs late.
